Dr. Sydney Schmitz
A proud native of the area, Dr. Sydney Schmitz has deep roots in the community she serves. After earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida, she completed her dental training at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, consistently ranked among the nation’s top programs.
Dr. Schmitz is known for her gentle touch, clear communication, and dedication to patient comfort. She takes pride in helping each person feel confident about their dental care while building relationships that last.
Away from the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Nicholas Funyak, their golden retriever, Lola, and their families. Whether cheering on the Gators or Wolverines, or enjoying a day on the water, she finds joy in the Florida lifestyle she shares with her patients.
Dr. Nicholas Funyak
Dr. Nicholas Funyak provides comprehensive general dentistry with a special focus on cosmetic and surgical care. He earned his undergraduate degree in cellular biology while playing collegiate baseball at the University of Puget Sound and later completed his dental degree at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.
Following graduation, he advanced his skills at the San Antonio VA’s top-ranked residency program, where he had the privilege of serving veterans with complex dental needs. Today, he offers a full scope of treatments, including implants, crowns, veneers, clear aligners, and full-mouth rehabilitation.
Outside the office, Dr. Funyak enjoys golf, travel, and time with his wife, Dr. Sydney Schmitz, and their dog, Lola. Patients appreciate his approachable style, attention to detail, and commitment to care that feels both professional and personal.
Dr. Alex Ordonez
Dr. Alexander Ordonez was born and raised in Muncie, Indiana. He attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate studies, where he met his wife, before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Indiana University School of Dentistry.
After dental school, Dr. Ordonez practiced dentistry in Arizona for five years, where he gained extensive experience providing comprehensive dental care and developed a strong commitment to continuing education. During his time in Arizona, he completed a mini-residency in Phoenix focused on advanced surgical procedures and dental implant placement, further expanding his clinical expertise. He was also an active member of the Southern Arizona Dental Society. Today, Dr. Ordonez is a proud member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and remains dedicated to staying current with the latest advancements in dentistry.
In addition to providing comprehensive preventive and restorative dental care, Dr.
Ordonez offers Botox treatments for both therapeutic and cosmetic applications. He enjoys the challenge and continual growth that dentistry provides and is passionate about expanding his clinical skills to better serve his patients.
Dr. Ordonez believes that patient education is one of the most important aspects of quality dental care. He takes the time to help patients understand their oral health, discuss treatment options, and feel confident in their decisions. His goal is to provide exceptional care in a gentle, comfortable environment while creating positive experiences and lasting relationships with every patient he serves.
Dr. Ordonez and his family now call Florida home. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, visiting the beach, participating in outdoor activities, and playing sports.
