Invisalign FAQ

Invisalign FAQ

Are you considering Invisalign® but still have questions? We want you to feel confident and informed before starting any treatment. Below are answers to the most common questions we get about Invisalign, from how it works to what to expect day-to-day.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners that gradually shift your teeth into place. Each set is worn for 1 to 2 weeks before moving on to the next in the series.

Is Invisalign as effective as braces?

Yes—for many cases! Invisalign can effectively treat mild to moderate issues like crowding, spacing, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. More complex cases may still benefit from traditional braces.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Treatment time varies depending on your needs, but most patients complete Invisalign in 6 to 18 months. You'll wear your aligners 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results.

How often do I need to come in for checkups?

Typically, you should come every 6–8 weeks. These visits are quick and allow us to monitor your progress and provide your next sets of aligners.

Can I eat with my aligners in?

No, you should remove your aligners when eating or drinking anything other than water. This helps prevent staining and keeps the trays in good shape.

Are the aligners uncomfortable?

You may feel some pressure or tightness when switching to a new set of trays. This is normal and means the aligners are working. Most patients adjust quickly.

What happens if I lose an aligner?

Contact our office right away. We may recommend moving to the next set or ordering a replacement depending on where you are in the process.

How do I clean my aligners?

Rinse them with lukewarm water and gently brush them with a toothbrush. Avoid using hot water or toothpaste, which can warp or scratch the trays.
